Indulgent and comforting, this Apple Fritter Bread Pudding combines the rich texture of bread pudding with the sweet, spiced flavors of apple fritters, topped with a luxurious caramel drizzle.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Apple fritters, roughly chopped into bite-sized pieces
  • Day-old bread, cubed (brioche, challah, or French bread)
  • Apples, peeled, cored, and diced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 cups whole milk or half-and-half
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • Caramel sauce, for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with melted butter.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Add the cubed bread, chopped apple fritters, and diced apples to the bowl. Gently toss to coat everything in the custard mixture. Let it sit for 10 minutes to soak.
  4. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  5. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden and the pudding is set but still slightly soft in the center.
  6. Let the bread pudding cool for 10 minutes before serving. Drizzle with caramel sauce just before serving.

Notes

Use day-old bread for better texture, soak the bread thoroughly in custard, and drizzle extra custard mixture if the pudding looks dry before baking.
