Whimsical, adorable, and easy-to-make Thanksgiving snacks featuring fresh strawberries dipped in chocolate, decorated with pretzels and candy to look like turkeys. Perfect for holiday gatherings, classroom parties, or festive snacking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 20 medium-sized fresh strawberries, washed and thoroughly dried
  • 1 cup (6 oz) milk chocolate chips or melting wafers
  • 1 tsp vegetable oil or coconut oil
  • 40 mini pretzel twists
  • 40 candy eyes
  • Orange and red mini M&M’s or candy-coated sunflower seeds (for beaks and wattles)
  • White chocolate chips or wafers (optional, for feather details)
  • Yellow fondant or icing (optional, for extra detail)
  • Wax paper or parchment paper (for cooling)
  • Toothpicks (for dipping and decorating)

Instructions

  1. Wash and thoroughly dry all strawberries. Line a baking sheet with wax or parchment paper.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine milk chocolate chips and vegetable oil. Microwave in 20-second bursts, stirring each time, until smooth and shiny. Alternatively, melt using a double boiler.
  3. Hold each strawberry by the stem or with a toothpick and dip into the melted chocolate, covering about two-thirds of the berry. Let excess chocolate drip off and place on the lined baking sheet.
  4. While chocolate is still soft, press two mini pretzel twists into the back of each strawberry to mimic turkey tail feathers. Hold gently for a few seconds to set.
  5. Use a dab of melted chocolate or white icing to stick candy eyes near the tip of the strawberry. Press an orange mini M&M or sunflower seed below the eyes for the beak, and a red one to the side as the wattle.
  6. Optional: Drizzle white chocolate over the pretzel feathers or add sprinkles for extra color. Use a small spoon or piping bag for precision.
  7. Place the tray in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes, until chocolate is fully set and decorations are secure.
  8. Once set, gently peel each bite off the paper. Arrange on a platter and serve. Store extras in the fridge until serving.

Notes

Use firm, dry strawberries for best results. Work quickly when decorating, as chocolate sets fast. For gluten-free or dairy-free options, substitute pretzels and chocolate as needed. Store in the fridge for up to 2 days. Can be frozen and thawed before serving.
