  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Chives or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel and cut the potatoes into equal-sized chunks, about 1-2 inches.
  2. Place the potato chunks in a large pot and cover them with cold water. Add a generous pinch of salt and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork-tender.
  3. Carefully drain the potatoes in a colander. Let them sit in the colander for about 5 minutes to allow any excess water to evaporate.
  4. In a small saucepan or microwave-safe container, warm the milk until it’s steaming but not boiling.
  5. Return the drained potatoes to the pot or a large mixing bowl. Using a potato masher, mash the potatoes until they are smooth and lump-free.
  6. Stir in the softened butter and cream cheese, mixing well until fully incorporated.
  7. Gradually add the warm milk, stirring constantly, until the potatoes reach your desired consistency. Taste and season with salt and black pepper.
  8. If desired, mix in garlic powder for an extra layer of flavor. Adjust seasoning as needed.
  9. Transfer the mashed potatoes to a serving dish and sprinkle with chopped chives or parsley for a fresh, vibrant touch.
