Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken dry thoroughly with paper towels, including the skin side. (2 minutes)
  2. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C) and run empty for about 5 minutes. (5 minutes)
  3. In a mixing bowl, toss the chicken breasts with olive oil until evenly coated. Sprinkle garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, thyme or oregano, salt, black pepper, and lemon zest (if using). Rub seasoning under the skin if possible. (5 minutes)
  4. Place the chicken breasts skin side down in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not touching. (1 minute)
  5. Air fry for 10 minutes at 380°F (193°C).
  6. Flip the chicken breasts skin side up using tongs. (1 minute)
  7. Air fry for another 8-10 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  8. Let the chicken rest on a plate for 5 minutes before serving.
