These easy bacon wrapped asparagus bundles are glazed with maple syrup for a sweet and smoky side dish. With just five ingredients and under 30 minutes, they’re a crowd-pleasing addition to any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound asparagus spears, trimmed
  • 810 thin-cut bacon slices
  • 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Wash and trim asparagus, removing woody ends. Dry thoroughly.
  3. Divide asparagus into 8–10 bundles, using 3–4 spears per bundle.
  4. Wrap each bundle with one thin bacon slice, overlapping slightly and tucking ends underneath.
  5. Place bundles seam-side down on prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each.
  6. Brush exposed asparagus tips with olive oil.
  7. Sprinkle bundles with black pepper.
  8. Bake for 15 minutes, then flip bundles with tongs.
  9. Brush each bundle with maple syrup.
  10. Return to oven and bake an additional 8–10 minutes, until bacon is golden and crispy and asparagus is tender.
  11. Optional: Broil for 2–3 minutes for extra crispiness, watching closely.
  12. Let bundles cool for 3–5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use thin-cut bacon for best crispiness. Dry asparagus well before wrapping. Flip bundles halfway for even cooking. Brush maple glaze near the end to avoid burning. For gluten-free, check bacon and maple syrup labels. Variations include using turkey bacon, adding parmesan, or swapping veggies.
