This Crockpot Chicken and Gravy recipe is a creamy, savory comfort food that’s easy to make and perfect for family dinners or meal prep.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 23 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5–2 pounds)
  • 2 packets chicken gravy mix (about 0.87 oz each)
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup (10.5 oz, undiluted)
  • 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Optional: sliced mushrooms, carrots, peas, green beans, fresh parsley or thyme

Instructions

  1. Place the boneless, skinless chicken breasts directly into the bottom of your crockpot.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the chicken gravy mix, cream of chicken soup, chicken broth, onion powder, garlic powder, and black pepper until well combined.
  3. Pour the gravy mixture over the chicken in the crockpot, ensuring the chicken is fully submerged.
  4. Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is fork-tender and easily shredded.
  5. Use tongs or two forks to shred the chicken directly in the crockpot. Stir to ensure it’s fully coated in the gravy.
  6. Serve the chicken and gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, or biscuits. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

[‘Don’t overcook the chicken to avoid drying it out.’, ‘Use fresh spices for maximum flavor.’, ‘If you prefer thicker gravy, mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water and stir it in during the last 30 minutes of cooking.’, ‘This dish freezes beautifully, so consider making a double batch for easy weeknight meals later on.’]
