A quick and flavorful stir-fry featuring tender beef strips, vibrant bell peppers, and a savory sauce, perfect for busy weeknight dinners or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 medium-sized bell peppers (1 red, 1 green), sliced into strips
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Slice the flank steak into thin strips, cutting against the grain. Slice the bell peppers and onion into strips, and mince the garlic.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth and set aside.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add steak strips and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned. Remove steak from the pan and set aside.
  4. Add the remaining oil to the skillet. Toss in the onion and garlic, cooking for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Add bell peppers and cook for another 3 minutes, until slightly softened but still crisp.
  5. Return the steak to the skillet and pour the sauce over the mixture. Stir well to coat everything evenly.
  6. Mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Pour it into the skillet and stir continuously for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  7. Remove from heat and serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.

Notes

Slice the beef against the grain for tender results. Cook in batches to avoid overcrowding the skillet. Adjust seasoning to taste and use high heat for stir-frying.
