Soft, gooey, and packed with melty chocolate chips, these cookies are a holiday favorite that will bring warmth and cheer to your celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup (150g) brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups (280g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Flaky sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or lightly grease them.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon (optional). Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  6. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie. Roll the dough into balls for perfectly round cookies.
  7. Sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt on top of each cookie.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the centers look slightly underbaked.
  9. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

[‘Chill the dough for 20-30 minutes if your kitchen is warm to prevent spreading.’, ‘Don’t overbake the cookies; they should look slightly underdone when removed from the oven.’, ‘Customize your chocolate by mixing dark, milk, or white chocolate chips for a fun twist.’]
