A rich, fudgy chocolate brownie meets the sweet, nutty goodness of classic pecan pie in this irresistible dessert that’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line your 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.
  2. Make the brownie batter: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, folding gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep your brownies fudgy.
  4. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Let the brownies cool slightly while you prepare the pecan pie topping.
  5. Prepare the pecan pie topping: In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the corn syrup, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, melted butter, and salt until smooth. Stir in the pecan halves until well coated.
  6. Carefully pour the pecan pie mixture over the partially baked brownie layer, spreading the pecans evenly. Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the pecan topping is set and slightly golden.
  7. Remove the pan from the oven and let the brownies cool completely in the pan before lifting them out using the parchment paper overhang.
  8. Slice into squares and serve. These brownies are best enjoyed at room temperature.
