A light, refreshing margarita made with tequila, fresh lime juice, and agave nectar for a balanced, less sweet cocktail perfect for warm weather and casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz (60 ml) Tequila Blanco (100% agave)
  • 1 oz (30 ml) Fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 oz (15 ml) Agave nectar
  • Ice cubes
  • Coarse salt for rimming the glass
  • Lime wedges for garnish and rim wetting
  • Optional: 1-2 dashes orange bitters

Instructions

  1. Prepare the glass by running a lime wedge around the rim to moisten it.
  2. Pour coarse salt onto a small plate and dip the glass rim into the salt to coat evenly. Set aside.
  3. Squeeze fresh limes to obtain about 1 oz (30 ml) of juice.
  4. In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 oz (60 ml) tequila blanco, 1 oz (30 ml) fresh lime juice, and 1/2 oz (15 ml) agave nectar. Add 1-2 dashes of orange bitters if using.
  5. Fill the shaker halfway with ice cubes, secure the lid, and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until cold and frosty.
  6. Strain the mixture into the prepared glass over fresh ice.
  7. Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim.

Notes

Use fresh lime juice for best flavor; bottled lime juice is not recommended. Adjust sweetness by varying agave nectar amount. Use large clear ice cubes to slow dilution. For a frosty texture, blend with crushed ice instead of shaking. Premix base ingredients and shake with ice before serving for convenience.
