Christmas Morning Overnight Cinnamon Roll Casserole - featured image

A stress-free holiday breakfast casserole made with canned biscuits, brown sugar, and cinnamon that rests overnight in the fridge for a soft, gooey texture and is baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans (16 oz each) large canned biscuits (flaky, buttery variety)
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or whole milk
  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. Open the biscuit cans and separate the biscuits. Cut large biscuits into quarters or medium biscuits in half.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix the softened butter, packed brown sugar, and ground cinnamon until it resembles wet sand.
  4. Arrange biscuit pieces in a single layer in the prepared dish. Spoon the cinnamon-butter mixture evenly over the biscuits, rubbing some into the dough.
  5. Cover the dish tightly with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or overnight.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove plastic wrap. If desired, tent loosely with foil to prevent over-browning.
  7. Bake for 35-45 minutes until the top is golden brown and the center is cooked through.
  8. While baking, whisk confectioners’ sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth.
  9. Remove casserole from oven and let cool for 5 minutes.
  10. Drizzle the glaze evenly over the warm casserole and serve immediately.

Notes

For gluten-free adaptation, use gluten-free canned biscuits. To prevent burning, use light-colored glass or ceramic dishes. The overnight rest is crucial for texture. Leftovers can be frozen unbaked for up to a month.
