A lazy, crowd-pleasing dip that combines cream cheese, ranch, buffalo sauce, and shredded chicken in a slow cooker for a creamy, spicy, and savory appetizer perfect for game day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces full-fat block cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup creamy ranch dressing
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup buffalo sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedOriginal)
  • 2 cups cooked, shredded chicken breast
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. Cut the softened cream cheese into 4-5 large cubes to help it melt faster.
  2. Place the cream cheese cubes in the bottom of a 4-quart slow cooker.
  3. Pour the ranch dressing and buffalo sauce directly over the cream cheese.
  4. Gently stir the cream cheese, ranch, and buffalo sauce together until mostly smooth.
  5. Fold in the shredded chicken and shredded cheddar cheese, distributing evenly.
  6. Cover and cook on LOW for 2-3 hours, stirring after 2 hours until smooth and bubbling.
  7. Give the dip a final vigorous stir to emulsify, taste for seasoning, and keep on WARM until serving.

Notes

Do not use tub spreadable cream cheese as it contains too much moisture. Always use pre-cooked chicken to avoid watering down the dip. If the dip is too thick, add a splash of milk or extra ranch. If too thin, cook uncovered for 30 minutes. Do not freeze as dairy may separate.
