Cute Pumpkin Patch Fruit Tray: 5 Easy Halloween Snack Ideas

Cute Pumpkin Patch Fruit Tray - featured image

A festive and healthy Halloween snack featuring creatively cut apples and oranges arranged to look like pumpkins, complete with grape vines and kiwi leaves.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large navel oranges
  • 2 Granny Smith apples
  • 1 red apple (optional)
  • 1 large bunch of red grapes (with stems attached)
  • 12 kiwi fruits, peeled and sliced
  • Pretzel sticks or pretzel rods
  • Caramel dip or yogurt dip (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the Granny Smith apples. Remove the core and cut into 1-inch thick wedges. Round off the edges with a paring knife to create pumpkin shapes. Set aside on paper towels.
  2. Cut the top and bottom off the oranges. Slice off the peel and pith, then carefully slice between the membranes to release segments. Pat segments dry.
  3. Peel the kiwis and slice into thin rounds (approx. 1/4 inch). Trim edges if necessary to resemble leaves.
  4. Wash and thoroughly dry the grapes. Do not remove stems. Trim stems to 2-3 inches if too long.
  5. Arrange apple ‘pumpkins’ in clusters of three or four on a large platter with a rim.
  6. Weave grape stems through and around the apple pumpkins to create vines. Tuck loose grapes near the base.
  7. Place kiwi slices near the top of the pumpkins or tucked into the grape vines.
  8. Break pretzel sticks into smaller pieces and scatter around the base to simulate soil or dried grass.
  9. Inspect the tray, adjust sliding pieces, and serve immediately with optional dip.

Notes

[‘Ensure all fruit is completely dry before assembling to prevent sliding and maintain presentation.’, ‘Apples may brown if left out; toss with lemon juice if prepping ahead, though orange segments help mask oxidation.’, ‘Use firm fruits like Granny Smith apples to maintain shape.’, ‘For a gluten-free version, substitute pretzels with rice crackers or omit entirely.’]
