A quick and flavorful weeknight dinner featuring ground beef browned in butter with garlic, onions, and herbs for a rich, savory sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) 80/20 ground beef
  • 4 tbsp (56g) unsalted butter
  • 45 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium dry onion, finely diced
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) low-sodium beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Dice the onion finely and mince the garlic cloves.
  2. Place a large skillet over medium heat and add the butter, letting it melt completely until foamy and fragrant.
  3. Add the diced onion to the melted butter and sprinkle with a pinch of salt. Cook for about 2 minutes until translucent and soft.
  4. Add the minced garlic and stir constantly for 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  5. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook for 5-7 minutes until browned and no longer pink. Drain excess grease if necessary, but leave some for flavor.
  6. Stir in the Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, and Worcestershire sauce. Pour in the beef broth and scrape the bottom of the pan to release browned bits.
  7. Simmer for 1-2 minutes until the liquid reduces slightly and coats the meat.
  8. Remove from heat, stir in the fresh parsley, and adjust salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately.

Notes

Do not overcrowd the pan to ensure proper browning. Keep heat at medium to prevent burning the garlic. If using salted butter, reduce added salt. For dairy sensitivities, substitute butter with ghee or olive oil. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated gently in a skillet.
