A festive and easy-to-assemble Valentine charcuterie board featuring heart-shaped cheeses, meats, fruits, and crunchy elements that create a memorable and delicious snack or appetizer.

Ingredients

  • Goat cheese, sliced thinly
  • Sharp cheddar, cubed or cut into hearts
  • Brie, small wedge
  • Manchego or aged gouda, sliced thin
  • Salami slices
  • Prosciutto, loosely folded
  • Soppressata or pepperoni rounds
  • Strawberries, sliced into hearts
  • Seedless grapes or cherry tomatoes
  • Cucumber slices
  • Artisanal crackers or baguette slices
  • Heart-shaped crackers
  • Honey-roasted nuts (pecans or almonds)
  • Honey or fig jam
  • Dark chocolate pieces or chocolate-covered strawberries (optional)
  • Fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cheeses: Slice goat cheese and cheddar into about 1/4-inch (6 mm) thick pieces and cut out heart shapes using cookie cutters. Cube manchego or gouda into bite-size pieces and slice brie wedge into small triangles for spreading. (10 minutes)
  2. Slice the meats: Fold prosciutto slices into loose rosettes, and lay out salami and soppressata in overlapping rounds or fan shapes. (5 minutes)
  3. Prepare fruit and veggies: Wash and dry strawberries, slice with heart cutter or freehand small hearts. Slice cucumbers and grape tomatoes; arrange neatly. (5 minutes)
  4. Arrange the board: Place larger cheese wedges and bowls of jams or nuts first to anchor the layout. Arrange meats in clusters, alternating colors and shapes. Fill gaps with fruits, veggies, and crackers, leaving some breathing space. (7–10 minutes)
  5. Add finishing touches: Drizzle honey over nuts or some cheese if desired. Scatter fresh herbs for aroma and contrast. Add small chocolate pieces or chocolate-covered strawberries for an extra Valentine’s touch. (3 minutes)

Notes

Keep the board chilled until serving but avoid refrigerating once arranged to prevent soggy crackers. Prepare components ahead and assemble just before serving. Use cold cheese for easier cutting of heart shapes. For gluten-free, swap crackers with gluten-free options or veggie sticks. For vegan, replace cheeses with nut-based alternatives and meats with marinated tofu or grilled veggies.
