A theatrical, bubbly green punch that creates a low-hanging fog effect using dry ice, perfect for Halloween parties and spooky gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 64 ounces (2 liters) Green Apple Juice
  • 64 ounces (2 liters) Lemon-Lime Soda
  • 1015 drops Green Food Coloring (gel preferred)
  • 1 large bowl Ice Cubes
  • 12 pounds Food-grade Dry Ice
  • Lime slices or green gummy worms (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Chill the green apple juice and lemon-lime soda in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Pour the green apple juice into a large, non-reactive punch bowl (glass or ceramic).
  3. Add green food coloring drop by drop to the juice, stirring gently until a vibrant eerie green is achieved.
  4. Pour in the chilled lemon-lime soda and stir gently to combine without losing carbonation.
  5. Add a large amount of regular ice cubes to the punch bowl to keep the drink cold.
  6. Place a Styrofoam cooler or plastic bowl in the center of the punch bowl to create a separate vessel for the dry ice.
  7. Using tongs or oven mitts, break dry ice into fist-sized chunks and place 1-2 pounds into the inner vessel.
  8. Position the punch bowl on a stable surface away from the edge of the table to allow fog to roll off safely.
  9. Serve the punch with ladles, ensuring guests do not touch the dry ice or the inner vessel.

Notes

Never handle dry ice with bare hands as it causes frostbite. Always use tongs or gloves. Do not put dry ice directly into the drink; use a separate container to create the fog effect. Store dry ice in a Styrofoam cooler with the lid loosely closed, never in an airtight container. The punch base can be made 24 hours in advance, but add dry ice only right before serving.
