A fun and festive Halloween appetizer featuring classic creamy deviled eggs topped with black olive legs to resemble spiders. These easy-to-make treats are perfect for parties and trick-or-treaters.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 large eggs, hard-boiled and peeled
  • 1/2 cup full-fat mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika, for garnish
  • 1/2 cup black olives, pitted and sliced thinly
  • Toothpicks (optional, for stability)

Instructions

  1. Place eggs in a single layer in a pot and cover with cold water by an inch. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  2. Once boiling, remove from heat, cover, and let sit for 12 minutes.
  3. Transfer eggs to an ice bath immediately to stop cooking and cool completely.
  4. Peel the eggs carefully under cold water and pat dry.
  5. Slice each egg in half lengthwise and scoop out the yolks into a bowl.
  6. Mash the yolks with a fork until smooth.
  7. Add mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, yellow mustard, vinegar, salt, and pepper. Mix until creamy.
  8. Pipe or spoon the mixture back into the egg white halves.
  9. Slice black olives into thin, long strips (about 8 strips per egg).
  10. Attach the olive strips to the sides of the yolk mound to form spider legs.
  11. Add a small dot of yolk mixture or olive piece on top as the spider’s head.
  12. Sprinkle with paprika for color.
  13. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

[‘Use eggs that are at least one week old for easier peeling.’, ‘Keep the filling thick and creamy to prevent sliding off.’, ‘Chill the eggs for 30 minutes before serving to help the filling set.’, ‘Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.’, ‘Do not freeze, as the texture will become rubbery.’]
