Ultimate DIY Soup Bar Party: 7 Easy Homemade Ideas

DIY Soup Bar Party - featured image

A stress-free, interactive hosting concept where guests build their own perfect bowls of soup from a variety of warm bases and fresh toppings, creating a cozy and communal dining experience.

Ingredients

  • Soup Bases (Choose 2-3): Classic Chicken Noodle, Creamy Potato Leek, Hearty Minestrone, Spicy Tomato Basil, or Butternut Squash
  • Crispy Bacon Bits
  • Sharp Cheddar Cheese (freshly shredded)
  • Fresh Herbs (chives, parsley, cilantro)
  • Croutons (garlic or plain)
  • Sour Cream (full-fat)
  • Green Onions (thinly sliced)
  • Avocado (diced)
  • Hot Sauce (Frank’s RedHot or Cholula)
  • Fresh Bread (baguette slices, cornbread, or dinner rolls)
  • Olive Oil (high-quality extra virgin)
  • Red Pepper Flakes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chosen soups according to recipe, aiming for a slightly thicker consistency. Let cool slightly and transfer to slow cookers set to ‘Warm’.
  2. One hour before guests arrive, cook bacon until crisp and crumble. Shred cheese, wash and chop fresh herbs, green onions, and avocado. Place each topping in its own small bowl.
  3. Set the table with sturdy ceramic bowls, ladles for each soup, and arrange the topping bowls. Place the slow cookers on the table and arrange the bread basket nearby.
  4. Invite guests to the soup bar, encouraging them to start with a base and add toppings in layers.
  5. Enjoy the meal, refilling soup pots as needed.

Notes

Keep lids on slow cookers until serving to retain heat. Dice avocado last and toss with lemon juice to prevent browning. Ensure soup is thick enough to hold toppings. Leftovers store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; do not freeze soups with dairy.
